Built Amelio Health’s admin portal for managing clients, visualizing data, and generating reports, aiding their data-driven chronic pain management.
Amelio Health is a health-tech startup working on chronic pain management through a data driven platform that gives clinicians a road map and decision support, so patients avoid procedures they do not need. We built the admin portal that health coaches use to manage their clients, read the data coming back from them, and generate reports.
Amelio Health came to us needing an internal portal their health coaches could genuinely work in. The data lake they had been running was not giving the coaches what they needed, and the relationship with their existing tech partner had stopped working.
The portal had to do real work rather than simply look presentable. Coaches needed dashboards that tracked each patient's Fitbit data, and they needed reports generated from third-party LMS surveys. The AWS setup underneath all of it was expensive to run and was not solving the problems it had been built for.
They also needed a secure and straightforward way to handle patient referrals arriving from insurance companies and health practitioners.
We broke the portal into phases rather than trying to deliver all of it at once. The first step was a close look at the existing AWS setup to work out how much of it was worth keeping, since rebuilding infrastructure that already did its job would have spent their budget for no return. Once we understood what we were working with, phase one began with the Fitbit API integration, built so patients could authorise Amelio to access their health data without a complicated setup process.
Collecting the data was only half of the problem, because it also had to be presented in a way that made sense to a coach in the middle of a session. We designed a dashboard that lets practitioners read a patient's metrics and charts quickly and come away with a clear picture of how that person is doing.
Data privacy shaped a large part of the build. The platform handles protected health information, so HIPAA compliance was designed into the architecture from the first phase rather than added at the end. We worked with Amelio to establish the privacy requirements, then built the data handling around them. With users on three different continents, we also had to localise data storage so the platform complied with the privacy laws of each region.
The LMS integration, the report generation, and the referral form were each given their own phase. That kept every release small enough to test properly before the next one started.
We started by asking what all of this data was ultimately for, then worked backwards from the answer. That led us to rebuild the AWS architecture around what the portal actually needed, which brought Amelio's running costs down considerably. With the foundation in place, we moved on to the Fitbit integration that phase one depended on.
User experience was front and center for both Amelio’s customers and practitioners. We designed a straightforward authorization flow so patients could connect their own Fitbit device and share their data securely. Sleep and activity data then flowed into the platform automatically, where the Amelio team could see how each patient was actually progressing through their pain management program instead of relying on what got reported back in a session.
The next phase brought in the third-party LMS tool, pulling through survey results and pain diary entries. We turned that material into reports a practitioner can read quickly and use when deciding how to treat a patient.
Finally we built the referral forms, which handle individual submissions as well as bulk referrals from insurers and practices sending several patients at once.
We still work with Amelio, extending what the portal can do, improving the experience for the people in it every day, and building out the analytics behind it.

Nothing was too difficult for Aumadi.Any ask was accommodated and very easy to work with. Deliverables were handed over on time and on budget and the team was very quick to respond to questions.
30-minute discovery call. Scope, timeline, and fixed quote out the other side. No strings attached.
